FOXTON.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON. Sept. 26. The Herrington ladies’ golf team was defeated by .five games to three in a match in the final round of the Takapua Cup which was played at Otaki yesterday afternoon. The monthly meeting of Loyal Foxton Lodge was held on Tuesday. Four new members were initiated. At the conclusion of business the members entertained a few friends to a social evening. A congregational meeting of the local Presbyterian Church was held on Tuesday, presided over by Rev. A. Fothoringham, to discuss arrangements for suitably celebrating the 90th anniversary of the first church service held in Foxton by the late Rev. James Duncan. The first service was held in October, 1845. It was decided to hold a special service on Sunday, October 27, which will be conducted by Professor Dickie, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand. Mr J. McKenzie, relieving officer for the Palmerston North district, is at present relieving Mr L. M. Saywell, of tho local Post Office staff.
