MUNICIPAL BAND.
MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. The Mayor (Mr T. Collins) presided at a meeting of the committee of the Feilding Municipal Band last night, there being also present Messrs W. H. Clayton, P. P. Stevens, E. A. Garlick, G. and W. Wilkinson, W. S. Kent, C. Simmons, C. S. Jeffs, F. Kendall, P. Guy, C. H. Tate (secretary) and. the bandmaster (Mr R. L. Lowe). An apology for absence was received from Mr O. Scotney. A circular letter was received in connection with accommodation at the forthcoming band contest at New Plymouth, but in view of the fact that the committee had not received any particulars of the contest no action was taken in regard to the letter. The matter of raising funds for the band was discussed and Messrs Clayton, W. Lowe and Scotney were appointed a committee to investigate and report on the holding of an outdoor evening entertainment. The bandmaster, in thanking the committee for his re-appointment, outlined certain new points by -which lie hoped to improve the general working of band practices. He had changed the practices to weekly meetings instead of bi-weekly as formerly. The organising of the suggested pierrot troupe also appealed to Mr Lowe and he agreed to act with the present subcommittee in arranging the troupe. The visit of the Jubilee Institute Band to Feilding was discussed and it was agreed to advertise the forthcoming concert. The committee approved of the ac-
tion of the bandmaster in altering the practices to weekly ones, and expressed the hope that the band would continue to progress. Accounts totalling £3O 15s 9d were passed for payment, the secretary reporting that with these the debit balance of the band stood at £sl 15s Bd. j
