NEW FSHING SEASON
LARGE LIBERATIONS OF FRY. ROTORUA, Sept. 25. Reports from the Rotorua and Taupo districts indicate that already many trout are to be seen in the lakes and rivers, giving promise of a successful opening of the new fishing season on November 1. To-day a consignment of 275,000 eggs arrived from Tokaanu for the Ngongotaha hatchery, and this will be followed by another hatch of 325,000. Regular liberations of fry are now being made, and this week 375,000 fry will be placed in the Rotorua lakes and the Bay of Plenty rivers, while the first liberation in the Tongariro River will also be made this week. At Lake Waikaromoana 200,000 fry were liberated recently.
