DECIDEDLY FIRMER. (Times Cables.) LONDON, Sept. 25. The city editor of the Times. saysthat, despite the fact that there is nc definite Italo-Abyssinian news, the security and commodity markets art decidedly firmer and business more active.
Apparently some professional anc’ private investors decided that the risk of war was insufficiently serious to cause suspension of business. Gilt edged and industrial issues are ap preciablv. higher, and wheat, jute, rub her, linseed oil, lead, and spelter rose Profit-taking caused a reaction in maize, sugar, and cotton. Moreover, apart from the ItaloAbyssinian crisis, events favour r rise, including the excellent Australian Budget following the satisfactory New Zealand one, and the news that France Iras drawn up plans to balance her Budget.
