(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, Sept. 25. Miss R. Carmont, of Dannovirke, is visiting her parents, ’Mr and Mrs F. J. Carmont, of Johnston Street. Mrs Pope, of Christchurch, is the guest of Mr and Mrs D. R. Ogilvic, of Purcell Strcot. The friends of Mr Win. Petrie, chiof Government hemp grader, and a former Foxton resident, will regret to learn that lie met with_ a serious accident in Wellington on Saturday afternoon. While crossing a street near his office ho was knockoct down by a car and sustained severo injuries to his chest, head and logs. His condition is still serious. At the monthly social afternoon of tlio All Saints’ Ladies’ Guild tho hostesses wore Mosdamcs H. A. Hannay, R. Robinson, F. Proctor, W. M. Thomas, W. Bowden, E. Popple, W. Leo and Misses Leo and N. Woods. The health stamp campaign was discussed and Mrs C. H. Symons was appointed as dclcgato to represent tho guild at meetings in this connection. A programme had been arranged by the hostesses, including vocal items by Mrs H A. Hannay and Mrs W. M. Thomas. Miss N. Woods played the accompaniments. Competitions were won by Mrs B Everton Mrs 11. A. Hannay and Miss L. Robinson. A “bring and buy’’ stall, in charge of Miss E. Thomas, did brisk business.
