PERSONAL.
Mr J. W. Ridley, of' Chelwood Street, is confined to liis home at present with ail injury to a rib. He is making good progress, however, although it is not expected that lie will be able to continue with his duties as yard foreman at the railway station tor another ten days or so.
The funeral of the late Brigadier William Middlemiss, who died last Sunday, took place yesterday at the Karon cemetery, Wellington, following a service at the Salvation Army Citadel. The service was conducted by Lieutenant - Commissioner F. Adams, and funeral orations were also spoken by Major P. Atherfoid and Lieu-tenant-Colonel D. McCauley, Colonel A. Orsborn led the congregation in prayer, and Mrs Lieutenant-Colonel Wails read the Scripture. After the service at the citadel the impressive cortege moved in procession through the city, preceded by the Salvation Army Band. Chief mourners were the widow, Mr IV. Middlemiss (son) and Miss G. Middlemiss, Miss V. Middlemiss and Mrs Jacobs, bis three daughters. Pall-bearers were Brigadiers Smith, Green and Imrie and Majors Rive, Laminond and Atherfoid.
