DANNEVIRKE, Sept. 25. Mr T. H. Pickard presided at the annual meeting, last night, of the Dannevirke Cricket Club. The committee’s report stated, inter alia: —Wo wish to congratulate the following players: R. Moore, 10 catches 3 stumped; X. H. Pickard, best batting average (21.3); L. S. Allardice, best bowling average (10). The committee regret having to report a debit balance of £1 11s 7d on the season’s _ working. Inc expenditure on gear was high, but. wo decided last year to equip ourselves with only first-class gear and the result, is that we still have three good bats in band. All other gear is in first-class order. Subscriptions brought in £lO Is as against £6 9s for the previous year, but there js still an amount of £1 19s outstanding. The report was received. The bolding of a smoke concert and reunion was fully discussed and it was decided to arrange it for the end of the coming season. It was decided to enter one team in the Hunter Memorial Shield competition. The following officers were elected: —Patron, the Mayor, Mr It,. Gibbard; president, Mr L. H. Burtenshaw; secretary-treasurer, Mr I. D. Heady; auditor, Mr T. 11. Pickard: delegate to 5.H.8.C.A., Mr R. G. Stewart. A trophy donated to tne club by Mr I'mlayson was awarded to Mr R. Mooro for the most number of catches gained last sea A meeting of the committee of the Y’est Coasters’ Association was held yesterday, Mr P. W. Dorrington presiding. The secretary reported that he had received advice that Mr T. E. Y. Sod don would be visiting Dannevirke on October 1. Mr H. M. Christie, of Y'aipawa, official Labour candidate in the Y'aipawa electorate, lias been compelled to enter. hospital for a short time. Mr A. Mill, New Zealand representative of tho Egypt General Mission, has been paying a short visit to Dannevirke in the interests of the mission, and lias been the guest of Rev. G. Starnes and Mrs Starnes, Queen Street
