PRIME MERIDIAN OF GREENWICH.
OBELISK FOR SUSSEX CLIFF,
■ Peacehaven has discovered a fallacy in the proposition that “East is east and V est is west, and never the twain shall meet, says the London Times East and west meet at Peacehaven,' among other places for the reason that 1 eacehaven straddles the prime meridian of Greenwich, from which longitude is reckoned.
Across the cliff top the imaginary line of the prime meridian was made visible some time ago as a strip of concrete. Hie idea has been developed by the re-' sidents, and there is to be erected soon on this spot an obelisk 20ft high which will be Peacehaven’s Silver Jubu lee memorial, and which will also be a sea-mark for at least some ships in the Channel when “crossing the line” of Greenwich.
