NEW ZEALAND DX CLUB.

MAN AW AT U BRANCH. A well-attended meeting of the Manawatu branch of the New Zealand DX Club was held on the 12tli inst. The presence of a number of new members who have joined up lately helped to swell the attendance, while the older members were present in full force. Despite the fact that conditions recently have not always been favourable for long distance radio reception, there is no lack of enthusiasm for the hobby of DX shown by members. It would appear that the hobby becomes mores popular than ever, from the number of new members joining the club. After the chairman had welcomed a new member the general business, which was of a light nature, was dealt With. The secretary (Mr C. J. It was decided that the secretary write advising the Napier branch of the methods of conducting meetings and also giving details of how competitions are carried out at the local meetings. It is gratifying to the local members that a number of North Island branches have adopted the methods of the Manawatu branch in running their competitions.

The secretary reported that the social committee had held several meetings and had decided to hold a social and dance. Good progress had been made and arrangements were well in hand ; it was hoped to hold the event late in October. Club members assured the social committee of their support and co-operation in making the evening a success. . . The chairman, reported on the visit of several members to Foxton.
