PROGRESS OF WORK. INTERESTED PARTIES CONFER. AA’hite was present on behalf of Unions Ainvays, Ltd. Others were the Mayor and Cr. J. Ilodgerts (City Council), Crs. D. Collis, AAL G. Shannon, J. Smith, and T. D. Lynch (Kairnnga County Council), Messrs D. F. Smillie, K. G. Chamberlain, A. J. Phillipps, H. Collinson, L. TI. Collinsort, AV. A. AAffiters and G. W. Dixon (Milson Aerodrome, Inc.). The ground improvements are at present being carried out by relief Labour Avhieh has been supplied to the Public AA’orks Department, the men being on a three days a Aveek basis. The Mayor and Cr. Hodgens advocated that tho Avork be classified as urgent and suggested that the men he employed for five days a Aveek. This request will probably be made to the Unemployment Board. Menmvhile turf is being lifted and the ground being levelled Avhere the neAV buildings are to be erected. Shortly up to 60 men will be allocated to tlie levelling on the main enstAvest runway so that it Avill be readv for use by the air liners. Tt is anticipated that bv Christmas time there Avill be some 250 engaged in the Aindertaking.
