NEGLIGENCE CLAIMS.
HOSPITAL BOARD TO INSURE. Per Press Association. HAMILTON, Sept. 12. Arising out of the test case Logan v. the Waitaki Hospital Board, the Waikato Hospital Board at a meeting to-day resolved to take steps to insure itself against claims for negligence on the part of the nurses and doctors in its employ. It is proposed that the policy should cover any one claim for £2500 not exceeding a total amount of £IO.OOO in any one year. The board will approach the Hospital Boards’ Association with a view to arranging for all hospital boards to combine in the matter to obtain the cheapest cover possible. It was also decided to contribute a share toward the legal costs incurred by the Waitaki Board providing all other boards did likewise.
