OROUA LODGE OF DRUIDS. RITUAL CONTEST. A.D. Bro. R. McCulloch presided over the fortnightly meeting of the Oroua Lodge of Druids, which was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Cuba Street, when there was a large attendance. An invitation was received from the Loyal Manawatu Lodge to be represented at an inter-lodge social and dance, while the Rualiine Lodge, Dannevirke, extended a similar invitation to a function. Both invitations were accepted with thanks. A motion of sympathy was extended to the relatives of the late Bro. T. Lambarth, the late member having been initiated at the second meeting of the lodge 53 years ago. A ritual contest took place between the officers of the Acorn and Oroua Lodges for the Mathe-Banks’ Ritual Shield (held by Oroua), the officers and members of the sister lodge being present in force. The judges were P.D.P. Bro. Paseoe, P.A. Sister Osman and P.A.’s Bros Drake and Skinner. Six candidates were initiated, each team having three to put through. A good keen contest took place and the judges awarded the decision to Oroua. A hearty vote of thanks to the judges was carried by acclamation. Bro. Buchanan reported on the recent pairs tourney held, Bro. Crook and P.G.P. Bro. Jackson being the winners. P.S. Bro. Mewett in a humorous speech presented the trophy to the winners. A challenge to another game was soon issued to the-winners, the trophv to be again at stake. A challenge to a debate was accepted from Acorn Lodge and V.A. Bro. Chatfield has to arrange a team. After the closing of lodge a dainty supper was served by the stewards. LOYAL MANAWATU LODGE. The usual fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Manawatu Lodge was held on Thursday evening, a very pleasing number being presided over by Bro. Carter. Invitations were received from llangiwalna Lodge, also Apiti, to their approaching installations, the visiting arrangements being left in the hands of the transport officer. Bro. Anderson gave an interesting report on the lodge visit to the Manchester Lodge, Feilding, when a considerable numlier made the trip and had an enjoyable evening. A challenge was issued to the Tv iin bolt on I Lodge for the Salek Sports Cup. kick visitors’ reports indicated that all members were making satisfactory progress. In response to a request from the Friendly Societies’ Council to take part in a church parade, it was decided to do so. The social committee reported on the arrangements made for the forthcoming social.
