INVASION BY EMUS.
CONCERN IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA. Received September 13, 1.10 p.m. PERTH, Sept. 13. Thousands of emus are again invading the north-eastern farming districts, and requests are being made for a supply of machine-guns to deal with the menace. The emus have beaten down large areas of crops. The Northampton Road Board, whose territory is near Geraldton, has paid for more than 4000 head of destroyed emus and required four toils of wood to burn the beaks and heads of those brought in for the bonus.
