PROGRESS AT BROOKLINE. BROOKLINE (Mass.), Aug. 25. In the semi-finals of the men’s doubles at the American tennis championships, D. Budge and G. Mako (U.S.A.) beat F. X. Shields and F. Parker (U.S.A.), 6—4, 6—3, 6—3; and AV. Allison and J. A r an Ryu (U.S.A.) beat AYilmcr Hines (Columbia, South Carolina) and Henry Culley (California), 2—6, 6—2, 4—6, 6—4, 6—3. In the. mixed doubles, R. Menzel (Czechoslovakia) and Miss K. Stammers (Britain) beat Mako and Airs King (Britain) B—6, 6—4; E. Maier (Spain) and Mrs Fabyun (U.S.A.) beat Van Rvn and Airs Van Ryn, 3—G, 6—3, 6—3.

BUDGE AND AIAKO LOSE
