Legg, for the lioliThe monthly meeting of the School Committee was held this week, there being [iresent Messrs 31. Ryan (chairman), F. Legg (secretary), C. Buchanan and J. Baker and Mr V. O. Kelly (headmaster). A letter was received regarding Arbor Day, but owin'* to there being no space available around the school for the planting of trees the matter was deferred. The question ot laving down the tennis court was discussed at" length, and it was decided to leave the subject in the hands of the chairman with power to act. There is now sufficient monev in hand for the commencement of the work, and it is expected that a start will be made at an early date. Ihe roll number now stands at 36 and it is expected that this will be increased with the commencement of the next term. Mombcis of the Wanganui Education Board. Messrs E. F. Heminingwny (chairman) C. N. Bolton (secretary), and K. R. Ilodgo (architect) visited the school on Thursday. They were met by Messrs Rvan (chairninn) and Buchanan, of the school committee, and maters of interest were brought under their notice. . . ~ The recent heavy rains have thoroughly saturated the ground and quite a lot ot water is still to bo seen lying around; in fact more than there has been for soyeial years. The drains are running to their ‘full rapacity. . .. Mr R W. Scott, with his family, arrived in Bainessc last week, he haying taken over the farm recently occupied by Mr Beaumont. 3lr T.
