COMMUNITY STORES BALL.

THIRD ANNUAL EVENT. Not for financial gain, but for the complete entertainment of their guests is the endeavour of the committee of the Community btores Ball, one oi the best and most keenly anticipated social gatherings of the year to tako place to-morrow evening. The Do Luxe Hall is at present the scene of much activity ■ the completion of a wonderful decorative effect, in the bunds of an _ extremely energetic ’ and capable committee. A great archway is built at the main entrance of tne ball, and on passing through this one is confronted with a beautiful rockery, relieved with much greenery and lighting, covering the full width and the tar end of the hall. Enclosed in the right-hand corner of this will be the largest orchestra to he engaged for any public dance m this city for a number of years, lhe left-hand corner will .enclose a spectacular walerla.l cascading down tiers of illuminated glass and pouring into a bubbling fountain at the bottom. The windows ot the hall are studded with glistening silver stars and a complete belt of coloured electric lights encircles the hall, each bulb being set in a Hlver star. Nearly 400 electric bulbs and over 300 rolls of crepe paper in the firm’s colours of red, white and blue have been used in the combined de corations. Good prizes are promised for the novelty dances and a glorious array of paper hats, balloons squeakers, etc., arc to he distributed from a vast container in the ceiling. Vocal items arc to be rendered bv accomplished radio artists and a specially arranged short entertainment by “Mr Prosperity” is among the features of the programme. It is probable there will be over a thousand guests present, including large, parties from a.s far distant as New Plymouth, Jarnnaki, Hawke's Bay, Wairarnpa and Wellington. Refreshments in plenty and an abundance of supper, together with a first-class programme, will combine in making a glorious night’s entertainment for those who attend. “In all, just happiness ahead!”
