YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. Little chango was seen yesterday in the Wellington stock and sharo markets, which wore generally steady at about recent rates. The recorded turnover was not of great volume, and was confined mainly to Reserve Bank and industrial issues. Tlicro was a steady demand for Government loans, quotations showing very minor changes. Rural Bonds, 5 per cent., 1947, wero dono at £llO 6s sd. Local body debentures continued dull. Reserve Bank showed some activity, three sales being recorded a £6 10s, £6 10s 3d and £6 9s 6d, and more were wanted at the last-mentioned figures. Commercial of Australia wore easier at 17s, sellers asking 4d higher. National of Now Zealand were wanted at 725. New Zealand wei'e a point off at 51s 2d. and the D mortgage shares wero unchanged at 33s 3d, sellers 345. Union wero wanted at £9 9s 6d, sellers holding for £9 14s. In the financial and pastoral section Goklsbrough Mort recovered to 335, sellers 33s 9d. Dalgety wero wanted at £8 4s, and Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile improved 20s to £34. Mortgage Corporation were 2d up at 6s sd, sellers 6s Bd. Wellington Gas sold firmly at 40s 6d, National Insurance strengthened to 20s 9d, Standard Insurance had buyers in at 71s 9d, but thero were no offors. New Zealand Insurance were unchanged at 665. A keen demand for ment-froe7.ing issues kept the market firm. New Zealand Refrigeraing contributing sold at par. Southland strengthened to 775. Intorost quickened in timber, issues, and Kauris sold at 22s 4d, and Taupo Totara at Bs. Breweries showed little change. New Zealand going at 535. Miscellaneous industrial and trading issues showed little movement. Briish Tobacco moved up 6d to sales at 41s. DunlopPerdriau eased to 14s 5d and 14s 6d.
