CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTORS..

CHURCH’S AIORAL SUPPORT. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Aug. 21. Just as the congregation had risen to its feet and Rev. 1). C. Herron was about to pronounce the Benediction at the annual meeting of Knox Presbyterian Church to-night there was a dramatic development. “Iu view of the strained position of world affairs,” said Alr Angus Ross, ALA., holder of the Ross fellowship at Knox College for historical research, “I think it would be well if we passed such a motion as this: ‘That in the event of an outbreak of a war in which New Zealand is involved this meeting commends to the moral support of the congregation those members who declare themselves to be conscientious objectors on religious grounds.’” Mr Herron was obviously taken l>y surprise and said: “I am quite sure we will all agree to this.”

Air N. Dixon, a student at Knox College, seconded the motion, which was carried with only two dissentient voices.
