GREAT FOREST FIRES
RAVAGE NEW BRUNSWICK. SETTLEMENT WIPED OUT. FEARS FOR RESIDENTS (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received August 21, 12.15 p.m. ST. JOHN (New Brunswick , Aug. 20. The settlement of Charnesey, containing 25 houses, has been wiped out by a forest lire and nine buildings razed at Belledune.
Two thousand men are fighting CO bush fires throughout the province, office workers aaid clerks dropping their tasks to form a huge volunteer fire army.
Tiie fate is unknown of fifteen men and three women who were trapped iu a Charnesey farm house.
