HALCOMBE ACCIDENT.

ASSISTANCE FOR FAMILY. For the purpose of providing assistance for Mr and Mrs F. Cowdrey and family, of Halcombe, who were the victims of the explosion which wrecked their home on Friday, July 12, the settlers of Halcombe and Stanway are organising various functions. A meeting was held at Stanway on Thursday evening when it was decided to hold a dance and euchre party in the local hall on Wednesday night next. It was further agreed to accept voluntary subscriptions from all who wish to extend assistance to the sufferers in this distressing accident. The meeting decided to arrange for the acknowledgment of subscriptions through the columns of the “Standard.”

This evening the settlors of Tlaleombe will meet to consider ways and means of furthering the objective of raising funds to assist Mr and Mrs Cowdrey, who, in addition to being physical sufferers in the disastrous explosion, lost their home and its contents.
