CRAWFORD’S EASY WIN. CHAAIPION BELOAV FORAI. AUSTIN BEATS AIcGRATH. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received July 19, 9.30 a.m. LONDON, July 18. In the three-day match at Eastbourne between England and Australia, on Davis Cup lines, Crawford (Australia) beat Perry (Britain), 6—o, 6—4, B—lo, 6—2, and Austin (Britain) beat <McGrath (Australia), 7—5, 3—6, 7—5, 6—2. Crawford’s form was sound enough, but Perry was so unbelievably bad tnat the Australian had merely to allow the champion to continue the process of beating himself. Crawford won the first set in eight minutes. He led 3—o in the second set before Perry played a stroke worthy of a AVimbledon champion. Perry then made a strong ehort to recover the command, but was too late to save the set. By a great uphill fight. Perry took the third set. After that ho was in no condition to stand against Crawford, who took the final set for the match. It was an astonishingly easy win. Austin and AlcGrath provided a close struggle. AlcGrath’s serving and volleying were superior, but Austin’s great consistency and excellent ground strokes gave him the victory.
