GOVERNMENT DEPOSITS DECREASE STERLING EXCHANGE LOWER. WELLINGTON, July 19. Proportion of reserve (No. 8 less No. 6) to notes and other demand liabilities, 97.27 per cent., compared with 97.28 per cent, last week. A decrease of £214,223 in Government deposits, indicating interest payments, brings the total of this item down to £11,975.672. Trading hank deposits at. £4,007,092 show a decrease of £40,949. Other demand liabilities total £22,868, an increase of £2544. The note issue amounts to £9,009,240, which is only £725 more than last week. Other liabilities total £69,877, an increase of £1336.

On the assets side sterling exchange stands at £21,531,184. a decrease of £246,625. Subsidiary coin is lower by £2286, the total being £137.610. Gold is unchanged al £2,801.732 10-, and investments show no change al, £2,094.075. Other assets total £20,147, a decrease of £1657. The statement balances at £26.584,749 12s lid, a decrease of £250.567 13s 6d.
