AFRICANS BEAT DURHAM. Received July 19, 9.20 a.m. LONDON, July 18. South Africa beat Durham in the two-day match by an innings and 45 runs. The Africans made 231 in the first innings, and Durham, whose first innings had yielded 45 runs, made 141 in the second innings (Langton 7 for 38). GENTLEMEN v. PLAYERS. Received July 19, 9.20 a.m. LONDON, July 18. In the match Gentlemen v. Players, tho Players declared their first innings closed at 9 for 251 (Barber 61; Read 4 for 57). Gentlemen, who made 218 in the first innings, have lost two wickets for 27 runs.
