RURAL RAKINGS. An outstanding addition to tlio Marino stock of Otago line liccti landed from Australia by Mr R. K. Ireland, of Oainaru, for use in bis Mount Pleasant. stud at Ornaraina. The shipment comprised five stud rams from the well-known Wanganella flock in New South Wales. The sheep are fine types of the breed, well grown and showing rather more substance than the majority of recent importations, and they arrived in good condition considering the rigours of an overseas voyage. Several property sales have taken place recently in the Poverty Bay district, in spite of the uncertainty of future land values and produce prices, and there is a steady inquiry for farm properties. One property which was sold this week was an area of 1558 acres in Waimata Valley, which was sold by Mr J. J. Rogers to a well-known breeder, Mr G. V. Smith, of Patautahi. The price is stated to be less than half the value placed on the property prior to the slump. Believing that it would be advantageous to New Zealand producers to learn at first hand the requirements of British consumers concerning the type of lamb required, the committee of the Tiinaru Agricultural and Pastoral Association has recommended the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board to consider making arrangements for an expert from the Smithficld market, London, to attend district lamb competitions in New Zealand to give advice and demonstrations. A travelling mob of 1000 head of cattle recently entered the Oowra (N.S.W.) district, and are on agistment, having completed a journey of 1100 miles from \\ into!!, jn Queensland. All the trip was by road, and lucerne and other feed were trucked to various railway points and delivered by a motor lerry. They have been 11 months on the road, and there were no losses, and the herd, of wellbred station cattle, is in strong condition. The cattle are moving in the direction of Victoria, if they arc not sold in the meantime. Seven drovers, with 40 horses, are in charge of the mob. COLOMBO TIC A AUCTION. Per Press Association.
