A message from St. Nazaire states that the second-class cruiser Marseilles was launched in the presence of members of Cabinet. She has a displacement of 7720 tons, a length of 590 feet, and a speed of 32 knots. She will carry nine guns, . eight anti-air-craft guiis, four torpedo tubes, and a catapult for the projection of seaplanes. The Minister of Marine (M. Pietri), at a subsequent dinner, expressed satisfaction with France’s recent naval progress. He pointed out that her submarines were the most numerous and her destroyers the swiftest in the world. The best way for the nation to keep friends was to he their equals.
