ISSUE OF BLANKETS.
RELIEF WORKERS BENEFIT. SUPPLY FOR SINGLE MEN. Five hundred pairs of double grey blankets and 297 pairs of boots have been issued since June to relief workers in Palmerston North. 'lhe boots comprise the third winter issue. It has now been decided by the Inemployment Board, a “Standard” reporter was informed to-day, that in addition to the free issue of blankets to married men one pair of single grey blankets shall be made available in each case to single men where the absolute necessity for them is established. It was pointed out to-day by' the local certifying officer (Mr W. H. Cadwallader) that this issue is restricted to those single men who are not living at home and who have insufficient bed covering for their own requirements. These blankets are, it is stated, being manufactured as quickly' as possible, but it may be some time before the distributing stores have sufficient supplies on hand to meet requisitions.
