OPIKI.
(From Our Own Corresi>ondcrit.) OPIKI, July 16. Colonel S. P. E. Closey has been a visitor to Opiki during the last week. He has delivered a number of addresses upon social credit in and about tho surrounding districts and has been recoived with enthusiasm wherever he has gone. The number that assembled in the Opiki Hall last Saturday night was a record one. A very enjoyable danco and euchre party, organised by the B Squadron of the Manawatu Mounted Rifles Regiment, was held in the hall last Friday night. Mrs W. Miers won the ladies’ euchre prize and Mr V. Claridge the men’s. Two novelty dances were held. Miss E. Ferris and Mr K. Miers won tho Monte Carlo and there was also a chain novelty dance. The two members of the ladies* basketball team chosen for the Horowhcnua representative teams played in their first representative match last Saturday in Palmerston North. Miss D. Buglass was emergency for the B team. Miss Nora Good, of Tariki, Taranaki, spent the week-end with Mrs VVildc. Miss Joyce Akers is at present visiting friends in the Wairarapa. Miss D. Buglass spent the week-end in Palmerston North. Mr J. Buglass paid a short visit to Ohakune at the week-end.
