FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.

The usual fortnightly meeting of the Acorn Lodge of Druids was held at the Coronation Hall. Terrace End, on Friday evening. A.D. Bro. Tucker presided over a good attendance. The secretary Bro Ileddin"field, informed the meeting that Bro Pepper was unfortunately again in hospital, otherwise the Lodge was free from sickness. J.P. A. Bro. Ayres reported upon attending Oroua Lodge and D.P. Bro. Drake upon attending Pahiatua Lodge, where he and other bretheren were cordially welcomed, also, that a social held at Bro. Drake’s residence was most successful. Good wishes were extended to Acorn Lodge from P.D.P. BroElsmore, who is now residing in Pahiatua. Bro. Drake informed the lodge that so far he has been unable to obtain a set of bowls as desired. It was decided that next lodge night be set aside for the purpose of a ritual competition and mock initiation, Bro. Bedmgfield to act as coach in elocution and to criticise the floor work. The lodge adjourned and supper was served by the stewards. Bowls and card games marked the rest of the evening.
