A professor of physics, giving evidence recently in an action in a Detroit Court to restrain a forge and machine company from making an excessive amount of noise, testified that tests he had made in the neighbourhood with a sound meter showed that women talking in their homes made 50 times more noise than passing motor-cars and 40 times more noise than the factory.
