WRESTLING.

TO-NIGIIT AT OPERA HOUSE. The traffic inspectors should again have a busy time this evening, when the ears commence to make their way to the Opera House. The occasion is a wrestling programme par excellence, with the two athletic giants. Hardy Krnskamp" and A 1 Pereira, heading a splendid list. Kruskamp is the prime favourite in this year’s contingent of wrestlers, and has brought this about by his willingness to give all he lias in any contest in which he participates. Ho has a splendid repertoire of holds, but it is in the quick application of them that he excels. Never before have wo seen a man who looks to he in a vicelike grip get out of his difficulty so deftly, and in a twinkling of an eye take the offensive. Pereira, who was known here two years ago as one of the best all-round straight wrestlers, is a heavier and more experienced matman than in 1933, and, fast as he undoubtedly is, he is outpaced by the dynamic Kruskamp. To-night’s battle will be between two perfect specimens of athletes, each with different methods of attack, of which the outcome is by no means a foregone conclusion. Petei, from Dnnncvirkc, and Tatere, from To Rehunga, will provide the star bout in tho amateur events. Tatere is built along the same lines as the clever Jap, Oki Shikina. With amateurs like Mercer, Edgar, Pinker, and Coldstream on the bill, those intending to be present would be well advised to he in their seats promptly at ' eight o’clock, to see what should be excellent preliminaries, hand-picked and matched with intelligence. Tho box plans may be seen at Collinitm and Cunninghatnq’s up to 5.30 this evening. CLEVER DISPLAY. McCREADY BEATS PEREIRA. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 24. A packed audience in the Wellington Town Hall was treated to-night to one of the most exciting straight wrestling encounters of the season when A 1 Pereira, the American Portuguese met Earl McCready, the Canadian, who claims the Empire title. With both men the wrestling was hard and clever. Pereira put tip an excellent fight, but was beaten by a dump and body-press in the fifth round and another body press almost immediately afterwards. PROHIBITION ON WILLIAMS. CONFIRMATION EXPRESSED. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 24. Tlie report that the Police Department had refused Cy Wijliams, the American wrestler, a. permit to wrestle again in New Zealand was confirmed by tlie Commissioner of Police (Mr W. G.
