LONDON’S BIRD MAN.

MANY FRIENDS ON EMBANKMENTS. In their spare time many hundreds of Londoners are chefs, restauraters and waiters—to birds. But Mr F. Shannon goes one step further; he is the restaurant as well. Mr Shannon is one of the few persons in London who inspires feathered folk with absolute confidence. He is well-known in the parks and on the Thames embankments where he feeds his friends. Sparrows are cheeky little birds but they are very well behaved when Mr Shannon is about, and eat out of his hand. Sea gulls also know the “Bird Man of the Parks.” Although they are normally very reserved, to show their friendship they perch on Mr Shannon’s hat. Even the very young birds do not hesitate to make friends with Mr Shannon. Perhaps their parents tell them he lias beeu • a friend of the family for 35 years.
