POPULAR RESIDENT.

FUNERAL OF MR J. BAGRIE. Evidence of the high esteem in which Mr J. Bugrie, of Levin, was held was shown at the funeral, last week, at which there was a cortege of nearly 70 cars, conveying one of the largest assemblages ot mourners seen in Levin for some time. 1 It included representatives of all sections of the community, with a number of members of tlie Police Force, in which Mr Bagrie had .served for many years. Prior to the cortege leaving the house a short service was conducted by Rev. I. W. Fraser. The pallbearers at the house were Messrs Bagrie (brother), G. Rttndle, J. Blenkhorii, D. P. Todd and Constables Warren and Blailne (Shannon), and at the cemetery. Messrs J. T M. Brewster and W. Bull (Levin Bowling Club), L. W. Fletcher (U.A.O.D. Lodge). C. Audrtcksen (Horowhemm Masonic Lodge), and Constables Burrell and Satherlev (Otaki). Mr Fraser also officiated at tlie graveside, while Messrs E. EHirst anti F. H. Hudson read the Masonic service. A large number of beautiful floral tributes, including several from local bodies, covered the casket.
