At the White City, in the Polytechnic harriers’ meeting, J. E. Lovelock (New Zealand) won the mile race in 4min. 13 4-osees., heating R. H. Thomas’s record for the meeting by five seconds.
J.n the Polytechnic marathon from Windsor to White City, A. J. Norris, Polvteclinic, 3hrs 6min. 37 4-ssecs,, was first, with McLeod-Wright, the holder, 2hrs. olmin. 0 4-osec., second.

NEGRO RUNNER’S DISPLAY
VANCOUVER, May 25. A message from Ann Arbor (Michigan) says that .Jesse Owens, Ohio State University negro star, broke three world’s records and tied a fourth at the thirty-fifth Western Conference Track Field Championships. He established a new broad jump record of 20 feet 81 inches, surpassing the periormancc of Chomei Nambu, of .Japan, in 1931. bv 0 LS inches. He won the low hurdles iii 22.6 seconds, compared with the recognised mark of 23 seconds. He also won the 220 3 aid dash in 10 3 seconds, three-tenths faster than the recognised mark, and won the hundred yard dash in .1.4 seconds. tieing With W ykoff s accepted world record.
