YESTERDAY MORNING’S SESSION. The annual festival of the Manawatu Competitions Society was continued yesterday in tire Empire Hall in the presence of a. large gathering of parents, teachers and musiclovers. Eight classes, which embraced elocutionary, pianoforte, vocal and dancing, were adjudicated upon, the awards l>eing made in two instances. In the other instances recalls only were determined, the pupils so favoured being required to again appear at the evening performance. The results of the classes heard in the morning are as under: RECITATION. (Girls, 9 and under 12.) Recalls. —Lorn a Whitehead (Woodville), Noeline Perrin. Yvette Crantmond (Wanganui), Eileen Tucker. This evening’s programme will include the following items of special interest : A lecturette hv Aliss Gladys Wntkins on Bells and the Wellington National War Memorial Cnrrillon; also a one-act play by the Aliison Women's Institute. At 7 o eloek on Wednesday the radio vocalist class will he broadcast from 2ZF and received in the Festival Hull.
