Mrs Williams, of Newt Plymouth, and Mrs Metcalfe. of Stratford, arc ihe guests of Mrs A. I’rujean. Miss 0. Cave has been obliged to undergo an operation in die Palmerston North Hospital. .Miss Spence lias been staying for a few days with Mr and Mrs C. Spence before lesuming her duties at the Main South Road School. The friends of Mr A. llensoman will regret lo learn that lie has had lo enter the Palmerston North Hospital to undergo treatment. Miss .Mari McKay is home again after a lengthy stav in Feilding. -Mr and .Mm J. ( ate wil'i be leaving the district in the near future, having disposed of their farm to Mr A. G. Prince.

At u well attended meeting at. Table Elat last week, under the direction of Mesdomes \V. G. Short and Bamicont, voluntary organisers, it was unanimously deeidctl lo form an institute. .Mrs Miller was elected president and Airs Kilgour secretary, ihe third Thursday in the month being selected for the day of the meeting. Hostesses for the next meeting of the Apiti Women’s Institute are Alosdninos J. Malone,' W. G. Morris. E. Millar and L. Marlin. Airs Remviek. of Palmerston North. is coming to judge Ihe brasswork competition and Is also lo give a demonstration al the meeting. The floral competition is for a jar of autumn flowers arranged for effect. The market, stall will bo in charge of .Mrs A. G. Prince. Alcmbers have been busy making paper flowers for the annual dance which is to lie held shortly. The potatoes for the potato growing competition are lo lie brought ■ to the next meeting. . There will he much local micros! in tho forthcoming election for the Pohanguia Countv Council Member for the Mangapikopiko Riding. Apiti township area is in this riding and ‘bo two candidates. Messrs W. T. Pratt (present member) and \V. AleKav arc well-known residents. Miss Leslie was hostess al a very enjoyable “bathroom” party in honour of M’iss I>. Burnell, who i- lo he married shortly. Miss Leslie asked Ibe bride-to-be to accept and open tlie numerous parcels, which contained a varied collection of useful bathroom accessories. Miss Burnell expressed her thanks to Miss: Leslie for giving her such a delightful party, and she also thanked the guests for their gifts and good wishes. Afternoon lea was served.
