MARKET STEADY. Crossbred lambs, under/421b, 6 5-8 d; seconds, 6 3-8 d; lamb, no change; wethers and owes, Id to id lower: light porkers, no change; heavyweights, id higher. The foregoing cabled advice was received by M. A. Eliott., Ltd., from Gordon, Woodrcofe and Coy., Ltd., London, to-day. The following are Smithfield prices for the week ending March 14, 1934. (These are on the “delivered” basis, that is, including storage charges, cartage, etc.) : —Best North Island prime lambs, under/361b, 7d; 36/42, 6 7-8 d: 42/50, 6 5-4 d. Ordinary North Island lambs, under 36, 6 3-4 d, 36/42 6 3-4 d; second quality, 36/42, 6 3-4 d, average 281 b 6jd; North Island wethers and/or maiden ewes, under/48, sid; ordinary North Island wethers and/or maiden ewes, 48/56, 4 7-Bd, 56/64, 4|d, 64/72, 4d; North Island ewes, under/48, 4d, 48/56, 3 3-4 d, 56/64, 3|d, 64/ 72 2 7-Bd. New Zealand porkers, 60/80, 5 3-8 d; 80/100, sd; 100/120, sd. SHIPMENTS OF MEAT. TO UNITED KINGDOM. The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board is advised by cable from, its London office that the shipments of meat from Australia and South America to the United Kingdom during the month of February were as follow: Australia. —Carcases mutton, 115,307; carcases lamb, 390,355; quarters beef, frozen, 17,234. South America. —Carcases mutton, 19,101; carcases lamb, 516,142; quarters beef, frozen, 2146; chilled, 437,359. The shipments from New Zealand to the United Kingdom for the same period were as follow: —Carcases mutton, 244,678; carcases lamb, 1,180,674; quarters beef frozen, 36,248: chilled, 5467.
