BOUTS AT NEW PLYMOUTH. Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, March 13. Jack Jarvis (Eltliam), in his first professional fight today, drew with Percy Hawes (Christchurch) in a willing bout. Jarvis had the better of six rounds. In the eighth Hawes went down for a count of nine three times, but at the end of the round damaged Jarvis’s eye. Hawes made a remarkable recovery and more than held his own over the vest of the fight'. In another professional fight, Harry Mudgway (Waihi) beat Johnny McKay (Gisborne) on points. Mudgway was the better boxer, meeting a -rugged fighter. RETIREMENT OF MORGAN. WELLINGTON, March 14. “So far as fighting is concerned, I am finished. I have had my day. There is no more money in fighting foi me.” So said Ted. Morgan, former Olympic champion welterweight boxer, when cross-examined by Air W. P. Rollings, during maintenance proceedings before Mr W. E. Stillwell, S.M., yesterday. Morgan stated also that he had received about £l4 from his last professional bout, last night. He was not in training.
