LAND IN ANTARCTICA
NORWEGIANS’ DISCOVERY. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) Received March 13, 12.15 p.m. OSLO, March 12. The Norwegian oil tanker Thorshavn, belonging -to the Lars Christensen Whaling Company, has discovered new land in the Antarctic, situated between 80.45 east 67.50 south, and 73.00 east, 69.10 south, in the Enderby Land quadrant.
The territory, which is regarded as the missing link between King Leopold Land and Queen A sir id Land and Lars Christensen's Land, is partly ice-clad and without vegetation. The captain took possession of it oil behalf of Norway, naming it Ingrid Christensen’s Land, after the wife of the head of the whaling company. Tho Antarctic expert, Mr Aagaard, in announcing the discovery, urges Norway immediately to claim equality in the Antarctic, annexing all lands between the eastern limit of Queen Maud’s Land and the western limit of Crown Princess Martha’s Land, He believes Britain is sympathetic to the proposals.
