COMMUNITY LIGHTS.
REDUCED PRICE SECURED. The statement was made at tbe meeting of tbe council of the Palmerston North Chamber of Commerce, yesterday afternoon that as tbe result of a canvass undertaken fifty additional subscribers to the community lighting system, required to secure a reduction in charges to 3s 6d a light per month, had been obtained. Tlie secretary (Mr S. 1. McKenzie) said this would make 289 lights, and mean a saving of £260 2s per annum to business men in tlie city. Satisfaction at tbe result achieved by tlie chamber was expressed by Mr W. H. Brown.
