COALITION CAUCUS.
RELIEF BILL DISCUSSED. WELLINGTON, March 13. A caucus of the Government Party was held yesterday forenoon to consider the Rural Mortgagors Final Adjustment Bill before it was submitted to the House of Representatives. Discussion was maintained for over two hours, and, as one Minister subsequently explained, “many different ideas were expressed.” But the Bill was not pruned in any way or amended, and, later in the day it was introduced in the House of Representatives, and read the first time. The caucus decided, however, to reserve consideration of several provisions in the measure until the following morning. Meanwhile, the second reading of the Bill has been deferred until the Mortgage Corporation of New Zealand Bill has passed through all stages.
