SPORTS MEETING.
Although the conditions were not quite so inviting on Monday, when the Ivia Toa Athletic Club and tlio Alanawatu Cycling Club conducted their customary evening fixture at the Sportsgrouud, there was a fair attendance of enthusiasts to follow the proceedings. The results of the programme were as under: — One lap cycle.—First heat: Cocker (25) 1, Rogers (40) 2, Dixon (50) 3; time, 43 4-5. Second heat: Walker (40) 1, Astin (25) 2, Rasmussen (45) 3; time, 43 25. Final: Astin 1, Cocker 2, Walker 3; time, 43secs. 75 yards flat. —Freeman (4) 1, Dynes (4-J) 2, Aloxon (sf) 3; time, 7 3-ssecs. Boys’ cycle.—Hall 1, Drake 2, Collins 3; time, lmin. 45secs. 220 .yards.—Clarke (19) 1, Aloxon (19) 2, Gillespie (17) 3; time, 22 3-ssccs. Three mile cycle.—Cocker (7o)_ 1, Rogers (95) 2, Lawrence (scr.) 3; time, omin. 44 2-o,secs. Owing to a mistake being made seven laps instead of six were ridden. • In a ond-lap challenge for the Alanning Badge Walker (holder) defeated 11. Rasmussen by ten yards. The Alanawatu Cycling Club has selected E. Lawrence, E. Astin and R. Walker to represent the club at the AVest Coast (N. 1.) cvcling championships at Wanganui to-day in the 1000 metres, 1000 metres time trial and 10 miles. R. Rasmussen and G. Esau will contest the half-mile junior championship, anil N. C. Dixon will compete in the IdOO metres time trial.
