CRIPPLED CHILDREN
FORMATION OF BRANCH. ROTARY SCHEME ENDORSED. Comprehensive proposals for tire formation of a. Manawatq-Oroua. branch of the Crippled Children’s Society were submitted to the members of the Palmerston North Rotary Club, at its weekly luncheon yesterday, ty the directors, who iiave iiad the matter under consideration for some time, for endorsement.
The president, Mr W. S. Carter, said the matter had been expedited because of the rapid series of events which had happened in consequence ot Lord Nutiieiu s generosity in providing £60,000 for the New Zealand fund.
The report brought forward was adopted on the motion of the Mayor (Mr A. E. Mansford), and it was decided to proceed immediately with the activities suggested therein. The Mayor stated that in his onimon the scheme advanced had been the subject of careful thought, and could not tie improved upon. It was one which should meet with the approval ot all who sympathised with their fellow men and cared for the welfare of children. It was announced that steps would be taken to incorporate the branch at a meeting to be held this month, and it was hoped to have available finance to the extent of £SOO in the first year, under the arrangements proposed.
