MISHAP AT CHRISTCHURCH. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, March 4. Crashing through a post and ra>l bridge at Helmore’s Road, a trueK driven by Sinclair Saggers, of St. Albans, came to rest upside down in the Avon River at 9 o’clock last night. Mr Saggers and a woman friend were pinned in the truck under the water, but managed to crawl out of the back and on to land. Mr Saggers received a slight cut and minor scratches on the face. His companion escaped with a shaking. Had it not been for the fact that the truck was equipped with a high carrier’s hood open at the back the consequences would have been serious. Mi- Saggers states that the accelerator jambed as he was attempting to turn to tho right at the entrance to the bridge.
