SIR HUGH DENISON
IMPRESSIONS OVERSEAS. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Feb. 15. Sir Hugh Denison, chairman of Associated Newspapers, Ltd., Sydney, arrived by the Ilangitilu to-day attex visiting Britain and tlio Continent. He intends. to spend a short holiday in tho Dominion. Questioned regarding economic con ditions at Home, Sir Hugh Den iso r said the position there was very similar to that existing in New Zealand and Australia. The leaders in public life were optimistic and considered that England would come out of the depression but the time of the recovery was governed to a certain extent by foreign conditions. He spoke of the wqnderful prer gress made by Finland in the pulping of timber for paper-making and the artificial silk industry. Most of the pulp for artificial silk went to Japan. Sir Hugh Denison said he had proposed visiting Russia, but bad been dissuaded as. owing to tlie attitude of the authorities, visitors saw only what the official guides were prepared to show.
