CUBA STREET CHURCH.

LADIES’ GUILD. The members of the Cuba Street Methodist Ladies’ Guild ushered in their activities for 1935 yesterday, when a social was held, Mrs P. J. Mellor presiding. After the devotional opening, songs were contributed by Kirs G. Young and Mrs H. L. Richards,, the accompaniments being played by Miss Young. A handshaking competition created amusement, Dlrs A. H. Fisher being declared the winner. A sponge sandwich competition was conducted, the judge being Dlrs DI. Jensen. The first prize was awarded to Dlrs Newman, while the second prize, which was donated by Dlrs Jensen, went to Dlrs Richards. Various aspects of the year’s activities were discussed, and the opportunity was taken by Dlrs Dlellor to thank Dlrs Jensen for her assistance in the capacity ot judge; the contributors to the musical programme, and Dlrs DD'augh and Dlrs Diorgan for supervising the afternoon lea.
