(From Our Own Correspondent.) MILSON, Feb. 11.

The monthly meeting of the Milson School Committee was held this evening. Present: Messrs F. Murphy (chairman), A. S. Franklyn (secretary) and G. Richmond. The headmaster (Dir R. MoEwen) reported as follows: —“Tho roll is 103, thirteen pupils having left, and six now ones having been admitted. The school is following the city schools in regard to time worked during the hot weather. I would like tho committee to supply paper, etc., for infant classes, also tiles for correspondence. I was pleased to find the lawns cut, grounds kept in good order and the school well scrubbed and cleaned after the holidays. Tho public library lias forwarded 70 hooks for the use of the pupils. I regret to say that Mr J. Arthur, who has been in charge of the Terraco End baths, is leaving for Scotland. He has | been of great assistance to our children in their swimming and life-saving.” Correspondence was received from the Education Board regarding the holidays for 1935, library subsidies and lawn mowers, also instructions for closing the school during the hot weather. An application from the Tennis Club, for the use of lacilities was granted subject to certain conditions. The committee decided that tho headmaster purchase stationery, etc., as required. Accounts amounting to £9 6s Id were passed for payment. The quarterly meeting of tho Milson Progressive Association was held in the hall during tho week-end. Present: Messrs Gilbert, Richmond, Thompson, Cummings, and Spriggs. Mr Richmond occupied the chair. A welcome was extended to Mr R. Walker, of Wanganui, who formerly resided hero, and was one of tho founders of the association movement in the settlement. Accounts amounting to 4s 6d were passed for payment. The Milson Tennis Club’s handicap tournament, which was to have been played during tlw week-end, was postponed oc account of insufficient entries being received, members being reluctant to turn out during the heat of the day.
