GRAIN AND PRODUCE.

CANTERBURY MARKETS. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 22. Howl wheat continues firm at 4s a bushel f.0.b., s.e. There are no offerings of now season’s fowl feed so far, samples being offered millers and merchants being mostly of milling grade. The fixing of the interim payments for the season at the price notified on Saturday has given general satisfaction to growers and will compensate to a small extent for the lessened yield. Though there has been inquiry from Auckland for potatoes, there is little business. Nominal quotations are from £4 5s to £4 7s 6d f.0.b., s.i., for MayJune. So far very few oats have been offered merchants. Apparently little lias been threshed, growers preferring to await some movement in the market before undertaking the cost of threshing. In any case, the way the season is shaping for winter feed a good deal of the oat crop may b? needed or the farms as chaff. Until there is a clearer indication in this respect it is probable that most of the oats will remain in stack. Ryegrass seed is coming forward freely, and apparently some good yields are being secured. Cocksfoot is now com-, mencing to appear on the market.
