NEXT ENGLISH CAPTAIN.
P. G. FENDER’S SUGGESTIONS. “We need,” states Air P. G. Fender, referring to the next cricket Tests, “a strong, sound man at the head of the side when our men go to Australia '■ and we have had only Jardine of that type for many years. The captain nowadays needs to be one who will look after the interests of the men under him as a first duty, and who, apart from having an exhaustive knowledge of the game in every way, will not hesitate to make sure that they will win if they are, in the cricket sense, good enough to do so. “Jt should go without saying that he should he the best tactician on the field, and the most tactful man olf it, that we can find among the amateurs good enough for a place in the side.” Air Fender thinks that the amateurs best qualified for the post are R. E. S. AVyatt, E. R. T. Holmes, B. H. Aralentine, J. H. Human, and W. G. Lowndes.
