MISSING CAMPER.

SEARCHES UNDER WAY.

CARTERTON, Jan. 18.

No further developments have occurred in the search for the missing camper, Harold P. Goodman, of Grevtown, who is five days overdue on his return from a trip up the Waihiue Gorge, in the Tararua Ranges. Search parties have been despatched from tlie Tararua and Wairarapa Tramping Clubs and are expected to converge on the Cone Hut after traversing Alt. Holdewortli to Tawa Flat and the southern areas.

A small party left Carterton and Grey town to-day and others- are expected to leave during the week-end from other parts of the district. If Air Goodman is found flares will be sent up from the Cone Hut. These will he difficult to see on account of (smoke from scrub fires. The Radio Emergency Corps has established a base at Cone Hut and will transmit short-wave wireless messages from time to time.

The weather in the ranges is windy, and visibility is hampered by smokiness.
