TILTED ON NOSE.
BASS STRAIT ’PLANE. Holyman’s Airways Pty., Ltd., who owned the lost air liner Miss Hobtart, suffered another misfortune on November 9, when the passenger aeroplane Miss Launceston was seriously damaged in landing at Flinders Island. The six passengers and the pilot escaped injury. The Miss Launceston was travelling from .Tasmania to Melbourne in the teeth of a gale and, when landing on the bumpy aerodrome, it was struck by a strong cross-wind. The ’plane tilted on to its nose, smashing the undercarriage, breaking both propellers, and bending the lower wings. It is probable that the Miss' Launceston will have to be dismantled and taken by steamer to Launceston. It will be some time before the Bass Strait service can he resumed, unless another machine is chartered.
